The 342 local authorities in the Netherlands expect to increase 14.4 billion euros through local taxes and other accusations this year, an increase of 8% compared to 2024, said on Wednesday the National Statistics Agency.

Land taxes paid by owners and parking costs will represent around 80% of the total, said the CBS. Waste collection and water costs constitute most of the others, followed by costs for passports, identity cards and permits.

Amsterdam opens the way, expecting to increase 32% more income thanks to land tax (OZB). Utrecht has a target of 19%, while The Hague and Rotterdam are lower than the national average.

The capital also plans to generate additional 42 million euros from motorists via parking costs. Not only have the costs increased, but no more places within the city limits have now paid parking.

In The Hague, they expect to generate an additional 22 million euros on parking, in Rotterdam 17 million euros.

The tourism tax should generate 600 million euros, compared to 539 million euros in 2024, said the CBS. Amsterdam now has one of the most expensive tourist tax rates in the world.

The figures are based on the projections of local authorities, with real figures to publish later this year.

Last year, local council budgets increased by 8.5% out of 2023.
