Oshkosh teen raises money for charity with Christmas light show

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) – Every year starting around Thanksgiving, Brody Enly brings out the lights and pumps the music for everyone who passes through the 1800 block of Westbreeze Drive in Oshkosh.

“My family always used to go to Christmas displays and I always thought it was a really cool thing,” Brody says. “I’ve always been passionate about computers and electricity and thought it would be great to do something like this on my own. Six years ago I started putting on my own Christmas light display for charity.

This display continues to grow and Brody now even decorates a tree for the Oshkosh Lights Celebration, but it’s his home display that the young man’s family is most proud of.

“It’s pretty incredible. Every year I’m here and I watch it work and every year I can’t believe my son made it and made it better and he’s so proud of it,” said Bronson, the Brody’s father.

During the light show, there is also a place to drop off donations. In the past, Brody has raised $22,500 and he hopes to surpass $30,000 by the 1st of next year.

“This year I’m collecting monetary donations for the Oshkosh Kids Foundation, collecting food donations for the Oshkosh Area Community Food Pantry, and collecting items for kids like winter gloves and mittens. distribute to various local charities through the United Way of Oshkosh Area,” says Brody.

It’s the generosity of the community each holiday season that Brody says motivates him to continue doing the light display.

“A lot of people support what I do, they’ve been great in allowing me to do this and I really appreciate everyone who donates to the show and puts it on every year,” Brody said.

If you would like to view the exhibit or make a donation, it is at 1874 Westbreeze Drive in Oshkosh, and the lights will be on each night until New Year’s Day.
