New darshan system to be introduced in Jagannath temple: Prithiviraj Harichandan

The Odisha government is planning to introduce a new system in the Jagannath temple in Puri and provide better facilities for devotees to catch a glimpse of the deities, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said on Sunday.

Addressing the media at the temple premises, Harichandan said that the government was taking steps to introduce the new system of public ‘darshan’ at the Jagannath temple from January 1.

“Necessary arrangements are being made. The necessary works will be completed by December 27 or 28. For two days, December 30 and 31, the new system will be introduced on an experimental basis,” he said. -he indicated. He further added that the new arrangements will be fully operational from January 1.

Special arrangements are also being made for women, children, differently-abled and elderly people visiting the temple as part of these efforts, Harichandan added.

As per the new arrangements, devotees will enter the Jagannath temple through the existing gate (Satapahacha) while exit will be through two different gates (Ghanti and Garada).

Harichandan and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee visited the temple on Saturday to review the work being done for the introduction of the new facilities in the temple.
