Kiffness’ ‘Eating The Cats’ raises nearly R2 million for SPCA

South African band The Kiffness have raised almost R2 million for an SPCA shelter in the United States with proceeds from their catchy song. Eat cats, featuring President-elect Donald Trump.

The song picks up on the New Statesman’s viral comments about immigrants, particularly Haitians, who he says eat pets.

An official music video has over 14 million views on YouTube and many more millions on other streaming sites.

The group is known for tasting everything from animals to small children and even a Ukrainian folk song.

SPCA THANKS KIFFNESS FOR ITS GENEROSITY

In his latest tweets, Kiffness’ David Scott posted a photo of a thank you card he received from the Ohio SPCA in the United States.

The outspoken singer revealed that the animal shelter received more than $100,000 (about R1.9 million) in donations from the proceeds of Eat cats.

The handwritten note graciously thanks the group, adding: “Our little shelter is now able to help even more animals thanks to your generosity. »

The Kiffness captioned the tweet: “Moments like this make me believe in the true power of music. »

“EATING CATS” IS A WORLDWIDE SUCCESS

In September last year, The Kiffness released Eat catsa parody of Donald Trump’s comments during a presidential debate with Democratic leader Kamala Harris.

Today, the new president, Trump, was then accused of making racist remarks when he said: “In Springfield, they eat dog.”

“They eat cats. They eat the animals of the people who live there. And that’s what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame.”

Trump was referring to immigrants who he said had taken over the city.

Kiffness sampled the comments and the final result was the viral success Eat cats.

Despite his political orientation, Scott insisted that it was no political motivation, and he was not a Trump supporter.

He then tweeted: “I’m flattered that my song is being played all over the world. But please stop assuming the intentions behind the song.

He added: “Any news organization that tells you a reason other than that the song is raising money for the Springfield, Ohio SPCA is lying.

“They aim to divide opinion. My goal is to bring everyone together behind a common cause.”
