Trump promises to end ‘transgender madness’ and recognize only two genders

President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to immediately end the “transgender madness” and make it “official policy” to recognize only two genders, male and female.

“With the stroke of a pen on day one, we are going to end the transgender madness,” Trump told supporters at AmericaFest 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday, according to a report. video shared by C-Span.

“I will sign decrees to end child sexual mutilation, exclude transgender people from the army and from our primary, middle and high schools,” he declared, drawing cheers from the crowd.

“Under the Trump Administration, it will be the official policy of the United States Government that there are only two genders, male and female,” he continued, while also pledging to “prevent men to participate in women’s sports.

Trump spoke out against transgender rights several days after the Senate on Wednesday gave the green light to the Pentagon’s mammoth $895 billion annual budget, which includes provisions that strip coverage of transgender rights. transgender medical treatments for children of soldiers.

The Senate passed the 1,800-page National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) by a vote of 85-14, moving the measure to President Biden’s desk.

Each fiscal year, which begins October 1, Congress is responsible for passing the NDAA to authorize defense spending and specify spending. This year’s bill comes two months late and represents an increase of about 1 percent over last year’s budget.

While the NDAA historically garners bipartisan support, Republicans were able to pass the transgender health care provision, much to the dismay of Democrats.

His comments come days after the Senate passed the Pentagon budget that included provisions removing coverage of transgender medical treatment for military children. P.A.

Specifically, the NDAA prevents the Tricare military health service from footing the bill for “gender transition” coverage for military children under 18.

Twenty-one Democratic senators, led by Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), voted against the provision, which Baldwin said would impact between 6,000 and 7,000 military children.

There are some 10,000 transgender youth ages 6 to 22 whose parents are active in the military, according to an estimate by the Modern Military Association of America.
