Fas recalls the search for new Singapore Premier League teams

Singapore – The search for teams to extend the nine -club Singapore Premier League (SPL) continues that the Singapore football association (FAS) invited the interested parties to submit a complete proposal aligned with the regulations of the Grant of licenses on the Asian Football Confederation and SPL.

On February 5, the FAS declared in a media statement that he had relaunched the exercise for the 2025-2010 season after “continued to receive indications of interest after closing the previous year”.

He said: “FAS clearly explained his desire to expand the league beyond his current number, and in particular, to include private and commercially motivated football clubs.

“This increase will make a SPL more exciting and provide larger avenues for Singaporean footballers to play the game at the highest level of Singapore.”

The proposals should include an overview of the club, its property and its management, training facilities, financial plan, recruitment of players, including football and development strategies for women, training and structure Technical for its first teams, women and young people, as well as the community and the fan of engagement plans.

Clubs must also demonstrate their commitment to growth and long -term success of the League.

The proposals will be assessed on key factors such as the history of the club, the structure of the team, the facilities, financial stability and the commitment in terms of league and community engagement.

As concerned clubs are not entitled to any financial support, they must show proof of financial viability to maintain the operating expenses of the club for at least the initial year of participation.

Those who wish to be taken into account can see the details of the DPs at FAS.ORG.SG/ABOUT-FAS/Tenders/ and must submit their expression of electronically interest to [email protected] before 18:00 on March 14.

In 2023, the FAS also invited the teams interested in applying. Then, the champions of the Island Wide League League and the Champions of the Singapore football league in 2024, Tengah FC, first received the approval of the option to participate in the 2024-25 campaign, but were finally withdrawn.

Tengah president Louis Amalorpavanathan refused to comment on the current exercise, but then told Times Straits: “The process … took more time than expected. It’s been a while since a new club has not been admitted to the SPL, so I think we and the Fas have learned a lot from the exercise.

“But rather than rushing to start just a month, we estimated that it would be the most responsible thing to do to compete in 2025-2026.”
