Pickering Women has long delays for car parts after accident

No one wants to enter a car accident and if you do, it can be frustrating to try to have your vehicle repaired.

Depending on how your car is new, there may be long delays in obtaining the necessary parts to solve it due to current supply chain problems.

An Ontario woman bought a brand new electric car at the end of 2023 and experienced a serious car accident two months later. Her vehicle has since been in the shop for eleven months and she didn’t know when she recovers it.

“There is no date when it is ready and we have approached almost a year since the accident,” said Manmeet Madahar, from Pickering.

Madahar previously worked as a producer for CTV News four years ago, but no longer works in the industry.

She told CTV News Toronto that she wanted to go green with her next vehicle and in December 2023, she bought a brand new Audi Q4 e-tron car entirely electric, but unfortunately, two months later, she was in a serious car accident.

“All the airbags deployed, and it was a fairly scary success. I had my daughter with me and I was very worried but grateful that we were going well, ”said Madahar.

Madahar said the car, which was around $ 72,000, had suffered around $ 35,000 and that his insurance company decided to repair it.

She said that there had been countless delays waiting for about 35 different games with a lot of time back.

“My car is still not ready and it is still not repaired,” said Madahar.

After the accident, Madahar was authorized to have a rental vehicle provided by his insurance company, but after a few months, she was told that she should return the car. Now Madahar must take his mother’s car to go to work.

Madahar also said that she should always pay expensive insurance and rental payments on the electric car even if she had not been able to drive it.

“(Rental payments) are about $ 900 per month and I still pay insurance premiums,” said Madahar.

“I pay for gas (for the rental car) when I budget for no gas when I bought the electric vehicle.”

‘I still don’t know when my car is ready’

Madahar said she was frustrated not to have a clear answer at the moment when his car is repaired.

“It’s been almost a year and they always tell me that there are more parts than Audi is waiting for. Now it’s been two weeks and there is no delay and I still don’t know when my car is ready, “said Madahar.

When CTV News contacted TD insurance on behalf of Madahar, a spokesperson said: “TD insurance is committed to supporting its customers and includes frustrations that can be caused by prolonged repair times due to shortages of games by car. We work with the customer to resolve this assertion as quickly and as quickly as possible. »»

After CTV News contacted TD Insurance, Madahar said he received apologies, her $ 1,000 franchise was canceled and she recovered her car after almost a year of waiting.

“I’m so happy to recover my car – it’s a huge relief,” said Madahar.
