Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police will set up a drone maintenance and operation wing early next year. City Police Commissioner CV Anand said that for now, to monitor important processions and bandobasts, they were renting drones from private companies.

“Next year, we will acquire drones and dedicated teams will operate and maintain them. A separate wing will be created for drone management,” he said.

The Hyderabad Police plans to implement artificial intelligence (AI)-based systems for traffic optimization to better manage traffic on arterial roads.

Cybercrime units will be strengthened with advanced tools and expertise, while to prevent the spread of disinformation, police will use different platforms to get real-time updates and contain them.
